The most recognizable obstacle racer in the world (guess who?) adorns the sleek cover of Mud & Obstacle Issue 1. As I flipped the pages of this preview copy, I was pleasantly surprised with the contents. Imagine any popular health & fitness magazine, dirty it up with some mud, replace pictures of sidewalks and asphalt with pictures of climbing walls and ropes and you should have a pretty good idea of what’s inside this magazine. Yes. A real, true-to-life, I can put my hands on it and touch it, printed on paper, magazine devoted purely to obstacle racing! It’s been a long time coming. If you’re into the OCR scene and at least semi-literate, then you will enjoy reading this. I won’t disclose details, but there are numerous and varied articles throughout, some of which are better than others. The writing is pretty good throughout; not stellar, but pretty good. It’s loaded with photos, for those of us who enjoy looking at pictures. The overall quality is comparable to any other fitness magazine and I doubt that any OCR-fanatic will be disappointed if they find this in the waiting room at their next doctor appointment. It is tons more interesting than Better Homes & Garden! Sorry, Mom, but it is!
