The Midwest Spartan Sprint is almost here!!!  It’s starting to consume my thoughts as I can’t wait to compete alongside some really great people and athletes.  I have probably ruined any chance that I might have at posting a great finish time because I decided to participate in the team based Hurricane Heat the night before my 9:00 am race.  A full description of how the Hurricane Heat came into existence can be found here, so I won’t spend my time trying to explain something that I’ve never done before.  Not only will I have driven 8 and a half hours, but will then spend the what-is-looking-like very chilly night crawling and running around in the mud with additional burdens placed upon me.  To make matters worse, the word from Carrie Adams is that the Hurricane Heat has been “kicked up a notch“.  Fabulous!  What does that mean?  I don’t know, but I have a feeling this is going to be one of those times when I think to myself “What have I gotten myself into???”  The truly insane thing is that I can’t wait for it!  It is going to be an EPIC weekend with the Hurricane Heat, racing in the elite heat in the brisk cold the next morning, watching my wife participate in her first Spartan Race, and maybe best of all watching my 7 year old daughter tackle the Kid’s Spartan Race.  Add to that the fact that I will get to reunite with “old” friends from the Spartan Beast Race and also meet several new Spartans who I’ve gotten to know online in the Spartan Race Facebook communities.  Oh yeah, and my parents are coming along for the experience!  It’s going to be incredible!!!  AROO!  AROO!
