B2B webI write this post because I think it will find its way to the right people.  To a few select athletes whose passion extends beyond obstacle racing, extends beyond competition, extends beyond physical challenges.  To those who love the sport of obstacle racing, but also want to make a real difference in people’s lives.

To those of you who fit this profile, who can plan their own calendar, and can afford travel costs, I am asking you to consider joining me, Chris Schapman, Corinna Coffin, and others on the inaugural orphan adventure mission trip to Monterrey, Mexico from January 16-22, 2016.  This is way out of my comfort zone, but I feel called to do this and perhaps you are too.

There are many things I don’t know about the trip sponsored by Back2Back Ministries, but I do know that it will be an epic adventure that I do not want to miss!  Below is some of the information I have been provided.  Read all the details and see the contact information at the bottom to get involved and/or ask questions.

What will we do there?
We will be encouraging orphans and others in need through daily activities and small work projects.  We want to help with nutrition, exercise, wellness, and giving kids an idea of fun things they can do now and as adults if they get an education. Of course, there will have to be something obstacle racing related!

Where will we stay?
We will be at a mission compound in Monterrey which is one of the most developed cities in all of Mexico. There will be dorm rooms with bunk beds, clean water that you can drink, and a bathroom and showers in the men’s and women’s dorms.  As a bonus there will be great views of the Sierra Madre mountains.

What is the agenda?
The schedule will not be solidified until we know for sure who is going and if we have extra funds or donations.

What will a typical day look like?
This is tentative, but similar trips in the past have looked like this.
8:00 am   Breakfast
8:30 am     Quiet Time
9:00 am    Small group discussion (optional for groups)
9:30 am     Final prep for day
10:00 am   Depart for location for the day
5:30 pm     Return to campus
6:30 pm     Dinner
7:00-8:30     Free time/interact with the HS and College kids on campus in soccer and other physical challenges
8:30 pm       Debrief
9:30-11:00     Free time for snacks, talking, etc.

What does it cost?
The total cost of the trip is $1000 to Back2Back which covers ground transportation in Monterrey, food and lodging in Monterrey and all activities.  You will also need to pay for your airfare transportation to Monterrey.  Deposits ($100) are needed ASAP with the remainder installments due throughout the summer.  Full payment is needed by November.

Who is Back2Back?
