A quick 3.5 mile run this morning completed my running training for the Beast.  Thank goodness because I was reminded again this morning that I really don’t like it.  I’m going to use tomorrow for yoga/stretching and Friday as a rest/travel day.  There’s not much more to say about my preparation except it’s mostly mental from now on out.  I vacillate between absolute dread and thoughts that I might do better than expected.  It doesn’t really matter until I cross the start line Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.  I think my mental resolve will kick in when it has to, especially when there others to compete with.  It gets tiring competing against yourself all the time.

Internet chatter (that makes me sound like the Dept of Homeland Security) is that the race could take 4 to 6 hours to complete.  Four to Six HOURS!!!  I purchased some Honey Stingers and running gels for energy just in case.  I don’t know how my body will react to the stuff, but I would rather not take the chance that I get stuck in an obstacle because I don’t have enough energy andmust  resort to scavenging for berries and nuts just to make it through.

I have started packing!!  This is my “gear” for the race.  Yes, I will do a better job of arranging it in the suitcase.
